Problem number one: you ran a red light.
Problem number two: the government’s appetite for money is insatiable.
Solution: the government gets more of your money from intersection cameras issuing citations, and you run less red lights.
If representative government is of the people, by the people, and for the people, this solution is not a manifestation of representative government. These cameras are representative only of power and greed. There would be no point in holding a referendum on the use of these cameras, because everyone knows what the result would be. Therefore, governments who use these cameras should stop, if they wish to be called representative.
