I believe the Supreme Court made a very good decision last week in the case of Boumediene v. Bush. McCain calls the decision to extend the writ of habeas corpus to detainees at Guantanamo “one of the worst decisions in history.” Perhaps he would rank it along the lines of the Court’s support [...]

I have written a book; and if it cannot be refuted, it cannot be condemned. But I do not consider the prosecution as particularly leveled against me, but against the general right, or the right of every man, of investigating systems and principles of government, and showing their several excellencies or defects.” – Thomas [...]

This story is, of course, fictional. If you see this headline in the newspaper tomorrow morning, you will need to pinch yourself–and if that does not wake you–realize that you have in fact died and gone to heaven. As I imagine it, there are no tax collectors in heaven. Upon entry into heaven, I could pick up the [...]

“Despite the long term damage to the economy inflicted by the government’s interference in the housing market, the government’s policies of diverting capital to other uses creates a short-term boom in housing. Like all artificially created bubbles, the boom in housing prices cannot last forever. When housing prices fall, homeowners will experience difficulty as their [...]

You’ve been hearing about the Bush/Paulson plan for “streamlining” or “revamping” the “outdated” regulatory system. Let me take the spin off of this story for you:
The plan is to allow the Fed to do whatever the hell it wants to, injecting taxpayer money into whatever irresponsible bank needs it for the time being. After the liquidity pressures [...]

National Socialism, better known as Nazism, is Clintobamonomics combined with Bush-McCain Diplomacy and Secrecy. When the Democrats and the Republicans do agree to terms, they usually both get what they want. Democrats get more social planning boards and funds, and Republicans get more spy-on-the-citizens powers and nifty 007 gadgets (which will be sold to overseas dictators as well). [...]

Throughout the primary season, Republican activists have been turning out in droves to denounce the mistakes their own party has made under the reign of President Bush. The Republicans who elected Bush in 2000 supported a platform of non-interventionism, lower taxes, less spending, more individual freedom, and smaller government. Bush delivered almost exactly the opposite.
Republican [...]

I read a blog in which someone was ranting about fish depletion, and I couldn’t resist commenting. All the planners are ruining our country by creating the illusion that they care about whatever plan you happen to have.
There are more important things than the fish population going on around you. You really ought to wake [...]

Fears of recession have turned to reality in the minds and wallets of every American not named George W. Bush. Having long forsaken the free market economy to arbitrary powers, Americans naturally turn their economic concerns over to the federal government and the Federal Reserve. The government has offered them $600 in tax rebates to help boost the [...]

Republicans put faith in the George W. Bush security system, to which we are told we owe our livelihoods, and which has brought with it a knack for creating terrorists much faster than Osama Bin Laden ever could. Democrats put faith in the welfare state, believing that ever-increasing transfer payments will end poverty in the United States, when [...]
